Bananas can help to either obtain or lose some weight. Bananas can be included in the diet of those who suffer from obesity, constipation, dysentery, anemia, tuberculosis, arthritis, ulcer, kidney problems, menstruation cramps, and even burns.
Bananas should be eaten separately from other food or vegetables and fruit salads, juices, cocktails, etc.
Health benefits of bananas are as follows:
Nutritional value. Bananas are rich in potassium. They also contain much calcium, iron, magnesium and phosphorus. They have much fibre (that’s why they are a good laxative), vitamin C, as well as vitamins A and B.
Losing weight. Bananas are good for those who are keeping a diet. A banana with the weight of 100 g has approximately 90 calories. Bananas have much fibre and are easily absorbed. In addition, they have no fat. Thus, people with excessive weight will not consume too many calories, if their diet contains several bananas.
Gaining weight. At the same time, bananas are useful for gaining weight, if they are used with milk daily. Milk provides necessary proteins, and bananas - sugar.
Anemia. Bananas are rich in iron and, therefore, help to treat anemia.
Other benefits of bananas. Bananas are also known to be helpful during arthritis, diarrhea, dysentery, burns, renal dysfunction, and tuberculosis treatment.
Taking into consideration the harm caused by smoking the best solution would be quitting, but if it is impossible for you, you can try at least to reduce negative effects of poisoning organism with tobacco by using a special diet.
In order to avoid problems with vessels one should reduce the consumption of saturated fats (beef and pork fat), which raise cholesterol in the blood. Instead one should use more unsaturated fats, olive oil in particular.
Products containing antioxidants are also necessary, as they clean the body from harmful molecules, called free radicals. This will give a chance (but not guarantee!) to avoid cancer caused by tobacco, especially lung cancer.
The main antioxidants necessary for health of smokers are vitamin E (it is found in nuts, cereals, liver and many vegetables) vitamin A (Liver, carrots, dried apricots), as well as Beta - carotene (carrots, pumpkin, spinach, broccoli).
Smoker’s organism badly needs vitamin C the revitalizing power of which can scarcely be overestimated. This vitamin is essential for healthy bones and blood vessels. It participates in the exchange of amino acids, promotes healing of wounds, addresses infectious diseases and colds, helps to restore the organism after heavy work, etc. and tobacco steals these vital forces from us. Smoking 20 cigarettes a day, one destroys daily 50 mg of vitamin C. to provide the body with the sufficient amount of this vitamin, one 200 mg a day. Vitamin C, contained in food, is absorbed in the organism better than its synthetic form. Thus, only adequate diet can help to solve the problem with vitamins.
50 mg vitamin C can be found in:
• 30 g black currant;
• 25 g kiwi;
• 25 g of fresh parsley;
• 50 g of pepper;
• 50 g of fresh estragon;
• 80 g of fresh red cabbage;
• 100 g of citrus fruit in the form of fresh juice (lemon, grapefruit, orange)
• 200 g of liver or kidney.
